TBI — where it's treated in the network

Traumatic brain injury affects movement, speech, memory and mood — every case unfolds differently. In our network clinics a neurologist, rehab physician, speech therapist, occupational therapist, neuropsychologist and TCM specialists work together, building the program and adjusting it as recovery progresses.

About the condition

What is Traumatic Brain Injury?

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is damage to the brain from impact, acceleration or compression. ICD-10 covers it in group S06; sequelae fall under T90.5. Severity is scored on the Glasgow Coma Scale: mild 13–15, moderate 9–12, severe 8 or below. Prognosis and the pace of recovery depend on severity, the location of the damage and how quickly rehabilitation work begins.

Families reach the network case manager at different stages: at hospital discharge — to launch a program in the first 6–12 months of active neuroplasticity; with persistent hemiparesis — for CIMT and intensive motor work; with aphasia and cognitive deficit — for speech therapy and neuropsychology; or for long-term family support. Details on the long-term picture, diagnostics, equipment and realistic expectations are in the expandable blocks below.
